Back in March 2020, when New York City was in lockdown, I started painting again after a long pause.  This time, with watercolors. It became an almost daily meditation for me, a way to turn my focus to the things I found beautiful and inspiring in the world.

 

Typically, I'm an acrylic painter.  But, shopping for more art supplies was mostly not possible, or, at the very least, felt frivolous during such a desperate time.  So, I used what I had: a stack of colorful, blank greeting cards and two sets of kids watercolors. (Fortunately for me, I hoard paint brushes, so I had plenty of those.)

 

This collection includes many of my personal favorites, the ones that taught me something new, from 2020 (and 2021).  

I hope they bring you some joy.
